Santolina

A luxury biophilic retreat

hidden within the pine forest of Melides,

close to the golden sands of the Alentejo coast

and Lagoa Santo Andrê National Park.

Geometric forms slowly reveal themselves, with the diagonals of timber frames reflecting the boughs of the native umbrella pines. Designed to shelter and recharge, rooms and spaces are shaped by natural elements, focused on a deliberate and responsive boundary between interior and exterior environments. At the heart, reflected in a body of water, animated roof forms rise and fall to suggest the interwoven actions of growing, making and eating.

An abundance of native woodland and flowering plants, such as the scented Santolina impressa, is enhanced and punctuated by a garden - an ephemeral vein of colour and life that sparks and shimmers through the changing seasons.

Santolina is regenerative - guiding exploration and connection; to your body, to nature and to each other, through ecological and holistic experiences.

Santolina echoes the deep rooted and vital need to ground ourselves within the beauty and serenity of nature.

Activities are shaped to influence habits; lightly and playfully introducing new protocols for sleep, movement and nutrition - a health boost for increased resilience, strength, and longevity.

A reductive approach to elevate the essential and fundamental, encouraging and renewing the joy of a simple life, well lived.
