What's in a name?

The word 'cor' is Latin for 'heart', representing both the physical organ and the metaphorical centre of emotions, thoughts, and character. In ancient Rome, ‘cor’ was used in various contexts to symbolize love, courage, and the essence of a person's being, often intertwined with concepts like affection or emotional depth in literature and art.

The modern term ‘core’ relates to the centre or most essential part of something, echoing the idea of ‘cor’ as the central aspect of one’s being.

We chose the word ‘cor’ to reflect our belief that humans have an innate and vital need to connect with the natural world, an emotional pull that is deeply rooted in biology, and our profound dependence on the web of life.
